High Precision Devices, Inc.'s Mechanical Engineering Design Services is the first phase in an integrated package of engineering design and manufacturing capabilities. Our mechanical engineering design capabilities focus on the development of kinematically optimized mechanical designs that allow for greatest precision and stability for the least effort and cost.

What are mechanical engineering design services?

Mechanical engineering design is the first step in an integrated design and manufacturing process. During this phase we evaluate and define your project concept and specifications and using a sophisticated Solid Works® CAD modeling system we create a virtual model of a fully functional end-product. During the mechanical engineering design phase, HPD's engineers will help refine your idea or concept, evaluate it in light of sound engineering principles, and identify elegant design and manufacturing solutions.

What tools are used in mechanical engineering design ?

• The members of our engineering group come from a wide variety of backgrounds; each uses his or her unique expertise to strengthen the company's core focus on precision mechanical instrument design and engineering.
• Our engineers are equipped with the latest cutting-edge computers and software, providing for efficiency and fast engineering design turnaround times.
• Working in close collaboration with our instrument machine shop, our engineering staff emphasizes mechanical engineering design for manufacturability.
• HPD's engineers communicate with the HPD instrument shop using direct networking of SolidWorks ® CAD files supported by minimally dimensioned drawings.
• We can export/import data to/from almost any other engineering CAD software.
• HPD engineers and instrument makers are trained in the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and certified to ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard.
• Engineers use finite element analysis software ( Cosmos® FEA) to optimize the design for mechanical or thermal characteristics.
